If you have only a small courtyard, then container gardening is probably the thing for you. If you have a courtyard you can obtain a grow bag and put three tomato plants in it. Put them in a sunny location against a wall and they will thrive.

As tomatoes could look online or at your local Garden Centre and buy plants "container ready", like carrots and leeks. Plants ready container are varieties which have been specially developed for cultivation in large containers or potted plant, instead of planting them on the floor.

It is well worth seeking these types of plants as you could sow seeds of carrot normal in a large pot plant, the varieties of container will grow and cut much better.

A raised bed, even a small gives you more options when it comes to vegetables to grow. I would suggest that you try runner beans as they only have a small space in your vegetable patch, and they like to be in raised beds.
