Mid March garden fever

| Senin, 28 Maret 2011

If ever there was a time when it reaches the itch gardening has to be the middle of March. The days are getting longer, daylight time is about to begin, the early perennials are just starting to make a stir and the weather begins to tease with a day a bit warmer here and there. After a long and snowy winter in those days in the mid forties are a very welcome signal that spring is on its way. If the clouds and the Sun is shinning so a little extra heat creeps in you and you're feeling ready to jump into the garden and move on. Is that a see saw type month time good and bad, the possibility of a Blizzard still looms still hope for an early Spring keeps popping into his head.

I love these kind of days we pardon in early spring and I know it's just a matter of time before the good times out number the bad. I must admit that, on the good times I feel like if I get a little more accomplished and that while itching to get projects underway, I'm grateful for those chances I get to do at least some of the tasks that are weighing on me. Full scale gardening is still at least six weeks away, but I already have started the raking of lawns and removal of debris, wherever the ground is firm enough to walk on. Wandering the perennial beds I dayliles and some of herbaceous perennials starting to send up new shoots that will fill the beds.

Soon Spring flowering bulbs will begin as soon as it is possible to rake and clean the planting bed those are ones that I tackle first. I don't want to damage the vegetation emerging lamps contest. To clear these beds I'm looking for any plants that were pushed to the ground by Aeria frost and I gently push them back down into place. The tasks will begin quickly summing as warmer weather arrives so that I can never be done now is always a blessing the latter on. Gardening is a species of how sport is good to do a bit of stretching and warm-up before going full out and full blast. These small outbreaks are a period that helps prepare you for the main event of heating.
